Los Campesinos! – Hello Sadness

It’s an ongoing joke between myself and anyone who cares to listen that I like listening to sad things. “Yo, sad bands are my jam!” is how I start conversations when it comes to bands that probably cry more than I talk. Naturally I found myself listening to Hello Sadness, thinking it’d be full of the saddest songs I have had the pleasure of sniffling along to.

Released in 2011, this album delivered in the “will this break my heart?” category. The title track has a line that I think encapsulates the feeling of falling in love and mending your heart: “goodbye courage, hello sadness again.” Since I’m a partial optimist (realist? whatever), with the mention of heartbreak, there tends to be a sense of hope as well.

All in all, this is officially one of my favorite albums  of 2014 that didn’t come out in 2014.
