Yesterday we announced the signing of Bayside and the day before we announced the signing of Taking Back Sunday.
Let’s take a step back to look at who Hopeless has. Yellowcard, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside. If you were to tell me 9 years ago that I’d be interning at the label that is the home to most of my favorite bands, I’d nervously laugh and ask what I’d be doing. “What, posting things on the internet? That’s not a real job!” Because 9 years ago, that’s all I did after doing my homework. I’d talk about my favorite bands on the internet.
Everything Hopeless is about, I believe in. So cheesy, I know, but this is such a wonderful company and the people who work there aren’t too bad themselves.
I’m trying super hard to not be such a goober, but I can’t help it. I think kids these days think that they will get what they want in life by not working hard for it and it’s not that way at all. There’s so much going on behind the scenes and this summer, I think I found that sweet spot of doing what I love, but still learning new things to incorporate in what I’m doing. I feel like I haven’t done anything this summer and then I look back on what projects I’ve done without the push from my boss and I’m like, “ohh, okay. I *did* do a lot!”
I made a compilation post of all of the releases that came out this summer. So weird to know that next week is my last week. Look, Hopeless Records, I’m gonna be around forever. Just you wait and see!
