Work in progress: “Home.”

“Home.” is the working title of my collection of instant photographs and words on what constitutes something as a home. Below is an image of the building I grew up in. Simply put, it’s a photograph of my home.

I’m not sure when the series will be complete, but I’m aiming to have enough words and photographs to show folks before I return to Portland next month. Along with the photographs and written work, there will be a playlist of songs the viewer can listen to.

Here’s an excerpt:

“As much as you don’t want to admit how important someone was to the development of your character, there’s no denying that without their contribution, you wouldn’t be sitting here having yourself an epiphany.” (Monday, July 25, 2011)

Tear Sheet: Two Hearts Concerts

I’ve known John McCrary since I was a 14-year-old who did everything in her power to support his band, Ten Seconds To Go. I went to only a couple of shows, but managed to stay in touch with him. 7 years later, I’m a photographer for the shows he puts on.

While browsing his website, I noticed the header was of The Wonder Years. I wasn’t sure if it was my photograph, so I looked through my archive and as it turns out, it was.

I’m thankful there’s a place in the San Fernando Valley that folks can go to for amazing shows. Let’s be honest, no one really enjoys driving to Pomona, Anaheim or Hollywood. Of course you’ll do it if the tour doesn’t pass through your backyard (I mean, I definitely do it), but if the same tour is coming through Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park, why waste gas? Use that extra money to buy merch. While you’re at it, tell John you appreciate everything he’s doing.
